Art Night Outreach

Using the slogan of the British Interplanetary Society “From Imagination… to Reality” as a starting point, 150 students from the Battersea, Nine Elms and Clapham area have taken part in workshops hosted by Art Night artist-in-residence Sam Ayre. Children have explored their relationship to nature and their future selves through philosophical inquiry, created artwork for an imagined album on 12” vinyl covers, explored different music histories and made ‘space rock’ songs with their written ideas acting as the lyrics.

At 19:30 a specially created band will perform the songs about the future, buildings and architecture – all written by children from Battersea and Nine Elms. The band features Lindsay Corstorphine (Sauna Youth, Cold Pumas), Eddy Frankel (Pure Beauty, Fair Ohs) and Joe Ryan (Heartfelt Rhythms).
