Ben Hughes
Exhibition and Artist Led Tours

Ceramic artist, Ben Hughes, explores the historic relationship between Doulton Pottery, formerly on Black Prince Road, and the Lambeth Art School (now City & Guilds of London Art School).

For Art Night London, Brocket channels the celebratory premise of the ‘Loving Cup’ – created by Doulton, depicting celebrities of the time, and updated by Hughes with contemporary concerns. Transforming their basement gallery into an immersive den serving ‘Arrack Punch’  – famously served at the nearby Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens – guests are invited to participate in the ‘Ceremony of the Loving Cup’ dating back to Saxon times and enjoy hourly artist-led tours.

Presented by curator Lizzie Glendinning and Brocket London

Generously sponsored by Beefeater 24, the basement gallery will be transformed into an immersive den, using the gin’s sophisticated blend of botanicals and exotic teas to create a summer punch inspired by the infamous local Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.
