The Secret Life of the Potato
Floating Arts Bar
Joseph Beuys: ‘Even the act of peeling a potato can be an artistic act if it is consciously done’.
What do potatoes mean to you?
This floating arts/sport bar explores the waterborne journey of the modest potato from Peru into all our homes. Under the stars, an even more important journey takes place – across salivating tongues, beautiful stomachs and joyful minds.
Be a couch potato and travel across Art Night while enjoying tuber-based libations and snacks served from a floating bar, driven by the MBNA Thames Clippers’ powerful engines.
There are over 4,500 existing potato varieties which find themselves in almost every conceivable situation, including the inspiration for artistic endeavours. These range from Vincent Van Gogh’s 1885 work The Potato Eaters to Kusama’s potato sculptures.
Be part of a tuberous project tonight on our potato party boat!
